Books had shown me, however, that all people everywhere wanted their lives to have purpose and meaning. This longing was universal.

If I had to write a rough draft, all the way through and then go back and start over, I probably would just stop writing. I wouldn't find that interesting. They accept death with a grace that I hope I will one day be brave enough to muster.
