The relationship between the United States and Mexico goes over and beyond the relationship between two governments. This is a relationship that has been built as of two peoples who have a common life, or millions of people who have their everyday lives in both nations; a relationship that undoubtedly involves millions of inhabitants of both countries.

The closeness between the United States and Mexico is more than just a relationship between two governments.

There are a great number of Mexicans who live every day worried about the lack of employment and opportunities. Those conditions also damage the image of Mexico abroad, and that is the Mexico that must be transformed.

Behind every crime is a story of sadness.

Beginning of our conversation with Donald Trump, I made it very clear that Mexico will not pay for the wall.

There has maybe been a poor - a misunderstanding or statements that have maybe hurt, unfortunately. The Mexicans have felt offended by what has been said [by Donald Trump]. But I am certain that his genuine interest is in building a relationship that will provide our mutual societies improved wellbeing.

Mexico and the USA are friends, partners and allies and should continue to work together for competivity and development across North America.
