By means of music the very passions, enjoy themselves.

What is good? All that enhances the feeling of power, the Will to Power, and power itself in man. What is bad? — All that proceeds from weakness. What is happiness? — The feeling that power is increasing — that resistance has been overcome.

So long as the spectator has to figure out the meaning of this or that person, or the presuppositions of this or that conflict of inclinations and purposes, he cannot become completely absorbed in the activities and sufferings of the chief characters or feel breathless pity and fear.

He who would learn to fly one day must first learn to stand and walk and run and climb and dance; one cannot fly into flying.

He who despises himself esteems himself as a self-despiser.

The will to power can express itself only against resistances; it seeks that which resists it--this is the native tendency of theamoeba when it extends its pseudopodia and gropes around.

In order to acquire intellect one must need it. One loses it when it is no longer necessary.
