You yourself must earnestly practice, the enlightened ones only proclaim the path.
No one outside ourselves can rule us inwardly. When we know this, we become free.
And so, with a boundless heart should one cherish all living beings.
It is impossible for a man who is bogged to extricate another who is bogged.
Goodwill toward all beings is the true religion; cherish in your hearts boundless goodwill to all that lives.
Whatever a monk keeps pursuing with his thinking and pondering, that becomes the inclination of his awareness.
