Prayer and action...can never be seen as contradictory or mutually exclusive. Prayer without action grows into powerless pietism, and action without prayer degenerates into questionable manipulation.
Henri NouwenIn their poverty, the mentally handicapped reveal God to us and hold us close to the gospel.
Henri NouwenThrough prayer we can carry in our heart all human pain and sorrow, all conflicts and agonies, all torture and war, all hunger, loneliness and misery, not because of some great psychological or emotional capacity, but because God's heart has become one with ours.
Henri NouwenPatience asks us to live the moment to the fullest, to be completely present to the moment, to taste the here and now, to be where we are. Let's be patient and trust that the treasure we look for is hidden in the ground on which we stand.
