You may feel overwhelmed by your own poverty and the labors of the day. But if you decide not to wait until you have more strength and more money, and if you pray for the Holy Spirit as you go, you will, when you arrive, know what to do and how to help someone even poorer than you are.
Henry B. EyringThe miracle of unity is being granted to us as we pray and work for it in the Lord's way. Our hearts will be knit together in unity. God has promised that blessing to His faithful Saints whatever their differences in background and whatever conflict rages around them.
Henry B. EyringThe good works that really matter require the help of heaven. And the help of heaven requires working past the point of fatigue so far that only the meek and lowly will keep going long enough. The Lord doesn't put us through this test just to give us a grade; he does it because the process will change us.
Henry B. EyringEach child in each generation chooses faith or disbelief. Faith is not an inheritance; it is a choice.
Henry B. EyringIt is never too late to strengthen the foundation of faith. There is always time. With faith in the Savior, you can repent and plead for forgiveness. There is someone you can forgive. There is someone you can thank. There is someone you can serve and lift. You can do it wherever you are and however alone and deserted you may feel.
Henry B. EyringIf we choose the right, we will find happiness-in time. If we choose evil, there comes sorrow and regret-in time. Those effects are sure. Yet they are often delayed for a purpose. If the blessings were immediate, choosing the right would not build faith. And since sorrow is also sometimes greatly delayed, it takes faith to feel the need to seek forgiveness for sin early rather than after we feel its sorrowful and painful effects.
Henry B. EyringOur Heavenly Father hears the prayers of His children across the earth pleading for food to eat, for clothes to cover their bodies, and for the dignity that would come from being able to provide for themselves. Those pleas have reached Him since He placed men and women on the earth. But always the Lordโs way to help those in temporal need requires people who out of love have consecrated themselves and what they have to God and to His work.
Henry B. EyringThe message of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ is that we can and must expect to become better as long as we live.
Henry B. EyringPray for the love which allows you to see the good in your companion. Pray for the love that makes weaknesses and mistakes seem small. Pray for the love to make your companion's joy your own. Pray for the love to want to lessen the load and soften the sorrows of your companion
Henry B. EyringI pray that wherever we are and whatever duties we have in the priesthood of God, we will be united in the cause to bring the gospel to all the world.
Henry B. EyringWe can follow a steady upward course in a world of change without fear, welcoming opportunities
Henry B. EyringWhile serving others, we are most likely to plead for the companionship of the Holy Ghost. Success in the Lordโs service always produces miracles beyond our own powers.
Henry B. EyringWe need strength beyond ourselves to keep the commandments in whatever circumstance life brings to us. The combination of trials and their duration are as varied as are the children of our Heavenly Father. No two are alike. But what is being tested is the same, at all times in our lives and for every person: will we do whatsoever the Lord our God will command us?
Henry B. EyringOur human tendency is to be impatient with the person who cannot see the truth that is so plain to us. We must be careful that our impatience is not interpreted as condemnation or rejection.
Henry B. EyringIf you ponder the scriptures and begin to do what you covenanted with God to do, I can promise you that you will feel more love for God and more of His love for you.
Henry B. EyringThe words of confirmation into the Church are an invitation: Receive the Holy Ghost. And that choice must be made not once, but every day, every hour, every minute.
Henry B. EyringAsk yourself, 'How did God bless me today?' If you do that long enough and with faith, you will find yourself remembering blessings.
Henry B. EyringThe Lord's way to help those in temporal need requires people who out of love have consecrated themselves and what they have to God and to His work.
Henry B. EyringYou can test what we have talked about today. Just try two things. Listen for the whisperings of the Spirit and then commit to obey. . . . God will take advantage of that if you let Him
Henry B. EyringIf the foundation of faith is not embedded in our hearts, the power to endure will crumble.
Henry B. EyringThe pavilion that seems to intercept divine aid does not cover God but occasionally covers us. God is never hidden, yet sometimes we are, covered by a pavilion of motivations that draw us away from God and make Him seem distant and inaccessible.
Henry B. EyringThe enemy of human happiness as well as the cause of poverty and starvation is not the birth of children. It is the failure of people to do with the earth what God could teach them to do if only they would ask and then obey, for they are agents unto themselves.
Henry B. EyringWe never need to feel that we are alone or unloved in the Lord's service because we never are. We can feel the love of God. The Savior has promised angels on our left and our right to bear us up. And He always keeps His word.
Henry B. EyringHeavenly Father has assigned us to a great variety of stations to strengthen and, when needed, to lead travelers to safety. Our most important and powerful assignments are in the family. They are important because the family has the opportunity at the start of a child's life to put feet firmly on the path home.
Henry B. EyringOur choosing the right consistently whenever the choice is placed before us creates the solid ground under our faith
Henry B. EyringEvery person is different and has a different contribution to make. No one is destined to fail.
Henry B. EyringAt this and every season, our Savior invites us to join with HIM and others to offer the priceless gift of JOY.
Henry B. EyringThe ideal God holds for us is to form families in the way most likely to lead to happiness and away from sorrow.
Henry B. EyringYou will notice that the work is simple obedience. It is not complicated things, it is not fancy things or getting great spiritual manifestations. This work is within the abilities of the most humble and the least educated.
Henry B. EyringEach of us, whatever our talents, has service to give. And to do it well always involves learning, not once or for a limited time, but continually.
Henry B. EyringChoose to obey the Lord quickly, always, in quiet times and in storms. As we do, our faith will be strengthened, we will find peace in this life, and we will gain the assurance that we and our families can qualify for eternal life in the world to come.
Henry B. EyringTo keep ourselves grounded in the Lord's Church, we can and must train our eyes to recognize the power of the Lord in the service of those He has called. We must be worthy of the companionship of the Holy Ghost. And we need to pray for the Holy Ghost to help us know that men who lead us hold this power.
Henry B. EyringIt is serving God and others persistently with full heart and soul that turns testimony of truth into unbreakable spiritual strength.
Henry B. EyringTestimony requires the nurturing by the prayer of faith, the hungering for the word of God in the scriptures, and the obedience to the truth.
Henry B. EyringHeavenly Father has given a simple pattern for us to receive the Holy Ghost not once but continually in the tumult of our daily lives. The pattern is repeated in the sacramental prayer: We promise that we will always remember the Savior. We promise to take His name upon us. We promise to keep His commandments.
Henry B. EyringGod does not rule in nations, but He is mindful of them. He can and does place people in positions of influence who want what is best for the people and who trust in the Lord.
Henry B. EyringWith the help of the Holy Ghost, we can watch over ourselves. We can pray to recognize and reject the first thoughts of sin. We can pray to recognize a warning not to speak words which would hurt or tempt someone else. And we can, when we must, pray for the humility and the faith to repent.
Henry B. EyringAlthough his time is not always our time, we can be sure that the lord keeps his promises.
Henry B. EyringFrom what might appear to you to be small choices, the Lord will lead you to the happiness you want. Through your choices He will be able to bless countless others.
