When I went off to college, I went believing I was a Republican. And actually I was president of Young Republicans for a couple of months and then I decided that I was much more in the camp of people like, you know, President Johnson - trying to promote civil rights, voting rights, ending poverty.

I can't speculate on what did or did not happen. I only know what I said and what I intended to convey.

Barack Obama is uniquely qualified to speak about the knowledge, experience and temperament that the presidency requires. And I know he is raring to get out there and start campaigning and I really look forward to campaigning with him.

We cannot eradicate violence if we do not build strong, inclusive communities.
