Of all the doctrines of the Bible none is so offensive to human nature as the doctrine of God's sovereignty.

Without the blessing of the Lord, your best endeavors will do no good. He has the hearts of all men in His hands, and except He touch the hearts of your children by His Spirit, you will weary yourself to no purpose. Water, therefore, the seed you sow on their minds with unceasing prayer.

Wealth is no mark of God’s favor. Poverty is no mark of God’s displeasure.

We should no more tolerate false doctrine that we would tolerate sin.

Pride comes from not knowing yourself and the world. The older you grow, and the more you see, the less reason you will find for being proud. Ignorance and inexperience are the pedestal of pride; once the pedestal is removed - pride will soon come down.

We must be holy, because this is the only sound evidence that we have a saving faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Without a thorough conviction of sin, men may seem to come to Jesus and follow Him for a season, but they will soon fall away and return to the world.
