Hell itself is truth known too late

Sin rarely seems sin at first beginnings.

No doubt men may easily think too little of God the Father, and God the Spirit, but no man ever thought too much of Christ.

Nothing perhaps affects man's character more than the company he keeps

There is more Bible buying, Bible selling, Bible printing and Bible distributing than ever before in our nation. We see Bibles in every bookstore - Bibles of every size, price and style. There are Bibles in almost every house in the land. But all this time I fear we are in danger of forgetting that to HAVE the Bible is one thing, and to READ it quite another.

A tree may always be known by its fruit, and a true Christian may always be discovered by their habits, tastes & affections.

If we would be sanctified, our course is clear and plain—we must begin with Christ. We must go to him as sinners, with no plea but that of utter need, and cast our souls on him by faith, for peace and reconciliation with God.... If we would grow in holiness and become more sanctified, we must continually go on as we began, and be ever making fresh applications to Christ.
