The early Christians made it a part of their religion to look for His return. Backward they looked to the cross and the atonement for sin, and rejoiced in Christ crucified. Upward they looked to Christ at the right hand of God, and rejoiced in Christ interceding. Forward they looked to the promised return of their Master, and rejoiced in the thought that they would see Him again. And we ought to do the same.

There is one subject in religion, about which you can never know too much. That subject is Jesus Christ the Lord.

No time is so well spent in every day as that which we spend upon our knees.

It must not content us to take our bodies to church if we leave our hearts at home.

The temple in which the Lord Jesus delights most, is a broken and contrite heart, renewed by the Holy Spirit.

How can we love sin, when we remember that because of our sins Jesus died?

God knew what we were before conversion - wicked, guilty, and defiled; yet He loved us. He knows what we will be after conversion - weak, erring, and frail; yet He loves us.
