Our history is a passion for me. I feel that we leave out so much information and huge gaps in the American story and it makes it hard for people to really understand that we are all intricately related as Americans. So I am attracted to historically based projects because we entertain and learn something at the same time. I just love that combination.

If black people mistrust white people, they are mistrusting racism, and that is appropriate.

Young people discovering their sexuality must know they walk with a strong tradition and that they are not alone. They have a right to information without being pressured.

The more confident one becomes, the less one needs all people to be the same.

Anything that is non-violent is OK with me.
