Such is life. We grow up. Planets like Tiny get new moons. Moons like me get new planets.
John GreenSo Zeno is most famous for his tortoise paradox. Let us imagine that you are in a race with a tortoise. The tortoise has a ten-yard head start. In the time it takes you to run that ten yards, the tortoise has moved one yard. And then in the time it takes you to make up that distance, the tortoise goes a bit farther, and so on forever. You are faster than the tortoise but you can never catch him; you can only decrease his lead.
John GreenWhat is an "instant" death anyway? How long is an instant? Is it one second? Ten? The pain of those seconds must have been awful as her heart burst and her lungs collapsed and there was no air and no blood to her brain and only raw panic. What the hell is instant? Nothing is instant. Instant rice takes five minutes, instant pudding an hour. I doubt that an instant of blinding pain feels particularly instantaneous.
John GreenThere were five others before they got to him. He smiled a little when his turn came. His voice was low, smoky, and dead sexy. โMy name is Augustus Waters,โ he said. โIโm seventeen. I had a little touch of osteosarcoma a year and a half ago, but Iโm just here today at Isaacโs request.โ โAnd how are you feeling?โ asked Patrick. โOh, Iโm grand.โ Augustus Waters smiled with a corner of his mouth. โIโm on a roller coaster that only goes up, my friend.
