I believe the universe wants to be noticed. I think the universe is inprobably biased toward the consciousness, that it rewards intelligence in part because the universe enjoys its elegance being observed. And who am I, living in the middle of history, to tell the universe that it-or my observation of it-is temporary?

John Green...But there's always suffering, Pudge. Homework or malaria or having a boyfriend who lives far away when there's a good-looking boy lying next to you. Suffering is universal. It's the one thing Buddhists, Christians, and Muslims are all worried about.
John GreenDo not worry too much about your lawn. You will soon find if you haven't already that almost every adult American devotes tremendous time and money to the maintenance of an invasive plant species called turf grass that we can't eat. I encourage you to choose better obsessions.
John GreenThe good times and the bad times both will pass. It will pass. It will get easier. But the fact that it will get easier does not mean that it doesnโt hurt now. And when people try to minimize your pain they are doing you a disservice. And when you try to minimize your own pain youโre doing yourself a disservice. Donโt do that. The truth is that it hurts because itโs real. It hurts because it mattered. And thatโs an important thing to acknowledge to yourself. But that doesnโt mean that it wonโt end, that it wonโt get better. Because it will.

But when she stopped being this amazing unattainable thing or whatever, and started being, like, just a regular girl with a weird relationship with food and frequent crankiness wh's kind of bossy--then I had to basically start liking a while different person.
