Abstraction is the way to the heart - it is not the heart itself.

Do you feel more loved when God makes much of you or do you feel more loved when God at the cost of His Son allows you to make much of Him?

Forgiveness costs us nothing. All our costly obedience is the fruit, not the root, of being forgiven. That's why we call it grace.

And in these last hours, the lifetime of this year passes before my eyes, and I face the inevitable question: Did I live it well? Will Jesus Christ, the righteous judge, say “Well done, good and faithful servant”?

The way of the cross is the way of suffering. Christians are called to die, not kill, in order to show the world how they are loved by Christ.

Our lives become trivial. And our capacity for magnificent causes and great worship dies.

To be a Christian is to move toward need, not comfort.
