I do not appeal to you to screw up your courage and sacrifice for Christ. I appeal to you to renounce all you have to obtain life that satisfies your deepest longings.

Wimpy worldviews make wimpy Christians. And wimpy Christians won’t survive the days ahead.

Some of you will die in the service of Christ. That will not be a tragedy. Treasuring life above Christ is a tragedy.

God is not a killjoy; he just opposes what kills joy.

Grace is not simply leniency when we have sinned. Grace is the enabling gift of God not to sin. Grace is power, not just pardon.

Fight for us, O God, that we not drift numb and blind and foolish into vain and empty excitements. Life is too short, too precious, too painful to waste on worldly bubbles that burst. Heaven is too great, hell is too horrible, eternity is too long that we should putter around on the porch of eternity.

When all your favorite preachers are gone, and all their books forgotten, you will have your Bible. Master it. MASTER IT!
