He (the sage) wants all things to follow their own nature, but dares not act.
He who holds on to the Way seeks no excess. Since he lacks excess, he can grow old in no need to be renewed.
He who overcomes others has force; he who overcomes himself is strong.
Without desire there is stillness, and the world settles by itself.
Better stop short than fill to the brim. Oversharpen the blade, and the edge will soon blunt. Amass a store of gold and jade, and no one can protect it.
Why separate your spiritual life and your practical life? To an integral being, there is no such distinction.
