If the Great Way perishes there will morality and duty. When cleverness and knowledge arise great lies will flourish. When relatives fall out with one another there will be filial duty and love. When states are in confusion there will be faithful servants.

Why separate your spiritual life and your practical life? To an integral being, there is no such distinction.

Deal with the small before it becomes large.

People turn their eyes and ears to him (the sage), and the sage cares for them like his own children.

Can you open and close the gate of Heaven and act like a woman?

Filling all the way to the brim is not as good as halting in time.

All things such as grass and trees are soft and supple in life. At their death they are withered and dry.
