I think kids in Europe have developed a deeper knowledge of music and of black music in particular. You go to Europe, and these kids know about all this obscure funk and soul that kids over here wouldn't know. I think it's getting better in the States, though, with the age of the Internet.
Lenny KravitzIโll be quite frank with you โ I didnโt know about Hunger Games โ so when Iโm telling kids and they say, โWho are you playing?โ and I say Cinna, they go, โOh youโre playing the gay guy.โ That was an actual answer. Iโve never brought that up yet. Thatโs how they perceived it. So I thought about it, and I read the book and I donโt see that he is or isnโt [gay]. Heโs a designer, heโs a stylist, he has gold eyelinerโthat doesnโt mean anything either way.
Lenny KravitzI'm experiencing the mood to go out and share the music. I don't look at these concerts as a platform for people to watch me, look at me. No, a tour is about an interaction. A thing, myself, a band, and the people who support what I do and enjoy what I do.
Lenny KravitzThe thing I love about acting is that it's got nothing to do with me; it's about bringing forth a director's vision. It's like a release. I'm glad it's come back into my life.
Lenny KravitzI really didn't know a lot of rock 'n' roll until I moved to L.A. Before that, when I was in New York, I grew up listening mostly to R&B and soul and jazz.
Lenny KravitzAt 10 o'clock in the morning I'd go right in the studio. It feels good to be there in the morning before the day starts to mess with you - I don't mean in a negative way, but before I'd speak to a lot of people or get into anything, I'd go in there and just see what I felt. A lot happens in the morning for me in the studio.
