Presidents don't have the benefit of hindsight. You have to make difficult decisions based on the information that's before you at that moment.

After eight years of Barack Obama and one crazy election, we almost got it wrong. We came this close. But then we remembered who we were. Then we remembered what America was. Then we confronted our challenges and embraced our opportunities. And because we did what needed to be done in 2016, our children became the freest and most prosperous Americans that ever lived.

That thought process that somehow other people have to be worse off in order for you to be better off does not work. People get on boats people jump fences to get away from that kind of thought process.

My dad was a bartender that worked banquets. So that meant holidays, weekends, nights.

Oftentimes, your choices are down to two less than ideal outcomes, but you have to choose which one is the best one for the country. I personally believe he continues to struggle to articulate that.

I haven't officially spoken in public about that issue, but I don't think it's a secret that Carlos [López-Cantera] has been a good friend of mine for many years. I respect him. I think he has done a great job as a state representative, as property appraiser in South Florida, and he's doing so now as lieutenant governor of Florida, and I think he would be a great senator, but I don't have an announcement for you today.

This president [Barack Obama] is undermining our military. This president is more interested in funding Planned Parenthood than in funding the military.
