That happens a lot when people become parents, too. There's just so much at stake suddenly, and you're also witness to the total miracle of birth, and stuff like that. So I started reading tons of religious texts and checking everything out. One of the things I wanted to make sure of on the record is that it still has a "searching" vibe rather than an authoritative vibe.

For me, being vulnerable is asking for help from other people whatever it may be.

Meditation is the one thing I do every day - meditate, pray. I do reading in the morning and try to center myself. I play music every day because that is very centering.

Meditation has been really helpful for me and music and great books. Deep down, it's just that I feel a connection to music and books when I can find that other people have gone through similar things.

The past is beautiful / like the darkness between the fireflies.

I like having a song in my head that's never been heard and then going into a studio and recording it and hearing it exist in the world. It's a magical part. Filled with wonder.

I really like playing with Mike Doughty from Soul Coughing. He was cool. He opened up some shows for us. I liked playing with G. Love, he's amazing. God Damn, it was like the best live I had ever seen.
