Weโre so wrapped up with egotistical things, career, family, having enough money, meeting the mortgage, getting a new car, fixing the radiator when it breaksโweโre involved in trillions of little acts just to keep going. So we donโt get into the habit of standing back and looking at our lives and saying, Is this all? Is this all I want? Is something missing?
Mitch AlbomLook, no matter where you live, the biggest defect we human beings have is our shortsightedness. We donโt see what we could be. We should be looking at our potential, stretching ourselves into everything we can become. But if youโre surrounded by people who say โI want mine now,โ you end up with a few people with everything and a military to keep the poor ones from rising up and stealing it.
Mitch AlbomAll these people that you meet or I meet, there's not a prayer in hell that they're ever going to run for office or major office because if they're that smart, they're also smart enough to know they don't want to take everything that they've built up and have it torn apart by a sensationalized media that's so hungry for any kind of salacious detail that they'll make that the emphasis of the person's life. And then all of sudden, 50, 60 years of hard work and accomplishment go out the window.
Mitch AlbomWhat about a man who sits down to wonder Why life has cheated him? Thinks about his situation Hangs his head and cries Will we pretend, his problems don't exist? He's reaching out for help-will we selfishly resist? What about your brother? He's crying What about your brother? He's dying What about your brother?
