It is not easy to fight elections with a development motto and I am glad people of Gujarat rose above personal and emotional tangles and prioritized development over everything else.

Democracy is our commitment. It is our great legacy, a legacy we simply cannot compromise. Democracy is in our DNA. I have seen the strength of democracy. If there were no democracy then someone like me, Modi, a child born in a poor family, how would he sit here? This is the strength of democracy.

While 1857 was about 'Swaraj ki ladai', the 2014 elections would be about 'Surajya ki ladai'.

We have to fight terror in one voice, rising above politics. That is when the common people will feel secure.

Development has to result in jobs. What we need is not just more production, but mass production and production by masses.

Economic development cannot take a nation forward on its own. We need a society and economy which complement each other. We need to take care of the poor, deprived and left behind sections of society.
