Only the phoenix rises and does not descend. And everything changes. And nothing is truly lost.

My people, we stay indoors. We have keyboards. We have darkness. It's quiet.

I'm writing. The pages are starting to stack up. My morale is improving the more I feel like a writer.

The main rule of writing is that if you do it with enough assurance and confidence, you’re allowed to do whatever you like. (That may be a rule for life as well as for writing. But it’s definitely true for writing.) So write your story as it needs to be written. Write it honestly, and tell it as best you can. I’m not sure that there are any other rules. Not ones that matter.

Give me boredom. At least I know where I'm going to eat and sleep tonight.

Nobody looks like what they really are on the inside. You don’t. I don’t. People are much more complicated than that. It’s true of everybody.

Real life doesn't have to be convincing, but fiction does.
