The habit of attending to small things and of appreciating small courtesies is one of the important marks of a good person.

Let us remind ourselves that our work is far from complete. Where there is poverty and sickness, including AIDS, where human beings are being oppressed, there is more work to be done. Our work is for freedom for all.

Be a life long student, read as many books as possible.

The suffering inflicted, and more often than not on the most vulnerable sectors of society, demeans all of us as humanity. That it is invariably women, children, the aged and disabled who suffer in these conflicts stands to the added shame of humankind.

I cannot and will not give any undertaking at a time when I, and you, the people, are not free. Your freedom and mine cannot be separated.

You encourage people by seeing the good in them.

When I walked out of prison, that was my mission, to liberate the oppressed and the oppressor both.
