What is failure for some is success for others. It depends on where they stand in the struggles over "democratic governance" and related rights - civil, social and economic, and broadly cultural, to adopt the framework of the Universal Declaration that is formally endorsed but constantly undermined.
Noam ChomskyIt's very hard to look in the mirror. We all know this. It's much easier to have illusions about yourself. And in particular, when you think, well, I'm going to believe what I like, but I'll say what the powerful want, you do that over time, and you believe what you say.
Noam ChomskyFrance has not been able to come to terms with the fact that it's not a major power anymore. But now Paris is a kind of subsidiary of Germany, their traditional enemy and they can't come to terms with it.

The United States comes closer to classlessness in terms of interpersonal relations than virtually any society.
