From the church I received a spiritual foundation that has kept me balanced. From the gospel music I learned the importance of singing with emotion- authentic emotion- not contrived- which has made my music endearing.

I've been fortunate to live a very full professional life. Most of it has happened through God's graciousness and not from something I've imagined.

I'm so honored to have been a part of something so meaningful that helped to keep so many families and loved ones connected.

As a nation we've been faced with so many tragedies since the beginning of this Millennium and I believe we have even more reason to pray. Many people don't feel capable in that area and I wanted to create music that helped them find the words that could bring peace.

I've recorded songs that are prayers in different styles, not just in the traditional gospel style that can help and comfort them. It's the words that matter most.

There has to be solidarity among the artists, songwriters and all the creative forces within that circle in order for the necessary changes to take place and for each person to get what is rightfully due.
