Art is not a special sauce applied to ordinary cooking; it is the cooking itself that is good. Most simply and generally, Art may be thought of as "The Well Doing of What Needs Doing."

The past could always be annihilated. Regret, denial, or forgetfulness could do that. But the future was inevitable.
