The inattentive, slovenly way we drift into the presence of God is an indication that we are not bothering to think about Him. Whenever our Lord spoke of prayer, He said, "Ask." It is impossible to ask if you do not concentrate.

We have the idea that God is going to do some exceptional thing- that He is preparing and equipping us for some extraordinary work in the future. But as we grow in His grace we find that God is glorifying Himself here and now, at this very moment. If we have God’s assurance behind us, the most amazing strength becomes ours, and we learn to sing, glorifying Him even in the ordinary days and ways of life.

Worship God in the difficult circumstances, and when He chooses, He will alter them in two seconds.

We are in danger of being stern where God is tender, and of being tender where God is stern.

Live in a constant state of expectancy, and leave room for God to come in as He decides.

Beware of bartering the Word of God for a more suitable conception of your own.

Have I allowed my personal human life to become a 'Bethlehem' for the Son of God?
