Who sees the human face correctly: the photographer, the mirror, or the painter?

I paint what I think, not what I see.

Art is never chaste. It ought to be forbidden to ignorant innocents, never allowed into contact with those not sufficiently prepared. Yes, art is dangerous. Where it is chaste, it is not art.

Art is a leap into the dark.

To model an object is to possess it.

I'm always doing things I can't do. That's how I get to do them.

I paint the way some people write an autobiography. The paintings, finished or not, are the pages from my diary.
