The people have allowed me to - they've respected my choice of wanting to be like, a little, you know, a baby alchemist, and just trying to mix different cultures together and things that I think are interesting.

Right now, musically I'm inspired by everyday people.

I try not to cry, in general. The experience of crying is so emotional and uncomfortable for me that I don't like to go there.

Trust me, when they read the [Oscar] results, my face was...frozen. But then I thought about it, and I just decided just to...let it go.

The best work comes from people who are motivated by crisis. When something stops their original idea, they respond by coming up with something even better.

When I make music, I try to make something that is super colorful and something you've never heard before, so when you hear the whole album, it's a good feeling. Musically that's what I aspire to do whenever I'm making an album.
