I think it's very important. I've gone into prisons to meditate with inmates. It's something I plan to do with Tim Robbins soon.

I kind of think that artists throughout history, poets throughout history have been criticized for sharing what's on people's minds and I don't think it's any different now.

We need to hear everyone. We need dialogue between police and the community. They're angry. They're hurt. A dialogue can cause a shift in consciousness in the person if he's understanding you and listening.

No matter where you're from or what you've done, you're never stuck in a particular circumstance, relationship, or cycle unless you say you are.
