I've always been a journal-keeper. I've always tried to write about how I'm experiencing life, and my feelings and thoughts.

I never know how to give advice to a writer because there's so much you could say, and it's hard to translate your own experience. But of course, I always try. The main thing that I usually end up saying is to read a lot. To read a great deal and to learn from that.

So few people know what they're capable of.

Where had I been that I didn't know about imaginary friends? I could see the point of it. How a lost part of yourself steps out and remind you who you could be with a little work.

Have you ever written a letter you knew you could never mail but you needed to write it anyway?

As long as people have been on this earth, the moon has been a mystery to us. Think about it. She is strong enough to pull the oceans, and when she dies away, she always comes back again. My mama used to tell me Our Lady lived on the moon and that I should dance when her face was bright and hibernate when it was dark.

Sometimes you want to fall on your knees and thank God in heaven for all the poor news reporting that goes on in the world.
