When crossing someone's borders you have to be prepared to engage in a war that is far more brutal than if it were to take place on neutral territory.

Artists die twice. First creatively. Then physically. The second one is the easiest.

If I just know in my gut that a film is going to work, I'll fight to the death over it, and I convince myself. When a movie is purely a money job, the film doesn't have the same sort of intensity, and the audience almost senses it, at least that's the way I perceive it. So, yeah, the idea is to do something that you truly, truly believe in.

'Rocky' represents the optimistic side of life, and 'Rambo' represents purgatory.

The champion's management says let's do this for real, for charity. Rocky says no but decides to be true to himself even though he's going to be berated by everyone. Just to compete, not to win.

What I'm trying to do now in my life - not just with the building, but with everything - is to construct things that will have enduring qualities, and won't just be ephemeral flashes in the pan.

There'll never be a 'Rocky IV.' You gotta call a halt.
