A terrorist, massive, casualty-producing event [will occur] somewhere in the Western world - it may be in the United States of America - that causes our population to question our own Constitution and to begin to militarize our country in order to avoid a repeat of another mass, casualty-producing event.

There is no doubt that the regime of Saddam Hussein possesses weapons of mass destruction. As this operation continues, those weapons will be identified, found, along with the people who have produced them and who guard them.

We're in fact on plan. And where we stand today is not, in my view, only acceptable but truly remarkable.

As I look at President Bush, I think he will ultimately be judged as a man of extremely high character.

I'm a pretty serious Independent.

If terrorists succeeded in using a weapon of mass destruction against the U.S. or one of our allies, it would likely have catastrophic consequences for our cherished republican form of government.

I'm not a fan almost anywhere of announcing to the enemy of what I'm going to do.
