We will not know our own injustice if we cannot imagine justice. We will not be free if we do not imagine freedom. We cannot demand that anyone try to attain justice and freedom who has not had a chance to imagine them as attainable.
But it is one thing to read about dragons and another to meet them.
But need alone is not enough to set power free: there must be knowledge.
Truth is a matter of the imagination.
As a writer, you are free.
Abstractions about right and wrong, whether they are as old as Thou Shalt Not Kill or as modern as Do Your Own Thing, often serve only to confuse and weaken genuine moral decision.
