When I first started drinking, it was working for me. It was great. Like when you're doing a gig and you're in a band and you're in the truck and there's nothing to do in the truck and the gigs are all the same and the hotels are all the same...it's the hotels, the car, the gig.

When you start to analyze [rock 'n' roll], it's only because you don't understand it. You're just not connecting with it once you have to start analyzing it.

I don't think nostalgia has to be negative.

I wanted to find out why I wasn't getting off on what I was doing and try and make some sense out of the evolution of it.

I never paid attention to what was contemporary or what was commercial, it didn't mean anything to me.

I've never felt like I was born with a silver spoon at all, although I've felt like howling at the moon a lot of times!
