Refugees have done more for my heart and my spirit than I can ever express in words.

The side of fairytales I don't like is that they always have happy endings, that there's just good and evil, and things are perfect. But life is a little more complicated, and that's what I try to teach my kids.

I'd like there to be less refugees. I'd like all girls to go to school. That's what we need to be thinking about, and working on making our own families good and strong and our own kids happy.

If you can imagine the area and the land in Cambodia, I mean there are hardly any roads in big parts of the country. The roads they have, in the rainy season, become just mud. So, if you’re somebody that has just one leg, or blind with no arms and you have children and you’re trying to work, and earn some money, and take care of your home, it’s hard enough to be a parent and do all of that normally.

But we survived, and we're a good family. I just don't want to dedicate one more tear, or watch my mother cry one more time.

What nourishes me also destroys me.

It's better to have nobody, than to have someone who is half there, or doesn't want to be there
