Thanksgiving reminds us that no matter our differences, we're still one people, part of something bigger than ourselves.
Barack ObamaThereโs only one thing we can be sure of, and that is the love that we have -- for our children, for our families, for each other. The warmth of a small childโs embrace -- that is true. The memories we have of them, the joy that they bring, the wonder we see through their eyes, that fierce and boundless love we feel for them, a love that takes us out of ourselves, and binds us to something larger -- we know thatโs what matters. We know weโre always doing right when weโre taking care of them, when weโre teaching them well, when weโre showing acts of kindness. We donโt go wrong when we do that.
Barack ObamaMy main message is to the parents of Trayvon Martin. You know, if I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon.
Barack ObamaWe worship an awesome God in the Blue States, and we don't like federal agents poking around our libraries in the Red States. We coach Little League in the Blue States and have gay friends in the Red States.
Barack ObamaI say that is because those are the times where sometimes you feel actually a little bit hurt. Because you feel like saying to these folks, "[Don't] you think if I could do it, I [would] have just done it. Do you think that the only problem is that I don't care enough about the plight of poor people, or gay people, or immigrants, or ...?"
