When I was in my early forties, I slept with a loaded gun under my bed. Id become severely depressed in my thirties, and for almost a decade I spiraled down into paranoia, rage, self-loathing, and thoughts of suicide.

Peace doesn't require two people; it requires only one. It has to be you. The problem begins and ends there.

It's quite an amazing experience to see the same life with and without the thought. We come to see how crazy a thought can make us when we believe it.

Your understanding of another person is limited by what you think you already know. So when you just listen, the person you meet won't match your preconception. The exciting thing is that you usually meet someone much wiser and kinder than you expected. You might also lose track of your ideas about who you are.

Trauma is nothing more than being stuck in what you believe.

The worst loss you've ever experienced is the greatest gift you can have.

The more you reveal, the more you have to question and the freer you get. Until, finally, you're absolutely exposed. And that leaves you in a fearless position, because you can work in the world without the fear of being found out. That is freedom.
