Follow the three R's: - Respect for self. - Respect for others. - Responsibility for all your actions.

Awareness of death is the very bedrock of the entire path. Until you have developed this awareness, all other practices are obstructed.

A sense of contentment is crucial to being happy. Physical health, material wealth and friends contribute to this, but contentment governs our relations with them all.

Some people, sweet and attractive, and strong and healthy, happen to die young. They are masters in disguise teaching us about impermanence.

The most important thing is to have a sense of responsibility, commitment, and concern for each of our fellow human beings.

One thing I want to make clear, as far as my own rebirth is concerned, the final authority is myself and no one else, and obviously not China's Communists.

The problems we face today, violent conflicts, destruction of nature, poverty, hunger, and so on, are human-created problems which can be resolved through human effort, understanding and the development of a sense of brotherhood and sisterhood. We need to cultivate a universal responsibility for one another and the planet we share.
