It is the state of mind of the person wielding the instrument that determines to what end it will be put.

Everyday, think as you wake up, today I am fortunate to be alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it.

Spend some amount of time alone everyday.

A wider of more altruistic attitude is very relevant in today's world. If we look at the situation from various angles, such as the complexity and inter-connectedness of the nature of modern existence, then we will gradually notice a change in our outlook, so that when we say 'others' and when we think of others, we will no longer dismiss them as something that is irrelevant to us. We will no longer feel indifferent.

I think, that in the twenty-second century, there will be more female reincarnations at female institutions. Then there'll be competition between male lama institutions and female lama institutions. It'll be a positive sort of competition.

People think of animals as if they were vegetables, and that is not right. We have to change the way people think about animals. I encourage the Tibetan people and all people to move toward a vegetarian diet that doesn’t cause suffering.

As far as ignorance is concerned, not just Buddhism, every religion recognizes it as the source of suffering.
