It was a lot of fun to play a character [in Swiss Army Man] with no inhibitions, and with no knowledge of the world, and who comes into the world kind of like a blank slate. It means there's no template or blueprint for how you need to play certain scenes.
Daniel RadcliffeI'm somebody who is very, very proud to have been a part of the British film industry all my life and to have kind of been involved with a very important piece of British film history.
Daniel RadcliffeI just want to keep working, really. I just want to keep acting. Playing one part for a very long time builds up in you a desire to play as many different things as you can.
Daniel RadcliffeI used to joke I was a point-and-click actor. My whole process has been about trusting your instincts and hitting your mark.
Daniel RadcliffeWhat I love about the gay thing is that every single person I type into Google, it doesn't matter if it's Florence Welch, anybody, if you are not being called gay you don't have a career. That's my theory!
Daniel RadcliffeThere is something inherently valuable about being a misfit. It's not to say that every person who has artistic talent was a social outcast, but there is definitely a value for identifying yourself differently and being proud that you are different.
Daniel RadcliffeNo. I am not a royalist. Not at all. I am definitely a republican in the British sense of the word. I just don't see the use of the monarchy though I'm fierce patriot. I'm proud proud proud of being English, but I think the monarchy symbolizes a lot of what was wrong with the country.
Daniel RadcliffeSomebody I love and have a huge amount of respect for once told me something that, to this day, I don't really think I understand. It was probably toward the end of Harry Potter, and they were talking to me about afterwards and that kind of stuff. And they were saying, "You need to think of yourself as a brand and you need to protect that brand." I just don't understand what that really means in terms of being an actor, and I also think I would find that a slightly soul-destroying way to look at myself.
Daniel RadcliffeI sort of try to read the books when they come out impartially and not make up my mind, but the fact is when I was reading the sixth, 'Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince', there were bits in there where I was going, 'God, I would love to do that because it's so good'.
Daniel RadcliffeAs much as I would love to be a person that goes to parties and has a couple of drinks and has a nice time - that doesn't work for me. I do that very unsuccessfully. I'd just rather sit at home and read, or go out to dinner with someone, or talk to someone I love, or talk to somebody that makes me laugh.
Daniel RadcliffeWith any kind of artistic thing, it's a muscle, like any athlete, and the moment you're not doing it, you lose all confidence. That's why I'm terrible with down time.
Daniel RadcliffeThe only thing I can think of is my favorite album at the moment by this guy called Father John Misty, and the album is called I Love You, Honeybear. It's just brilliant. It's the album I'm currently obsessed with. It is original, and the lyrics are fantastic and [it's] brilliant. So that's blowing me away.
Daniel RadcliffeHarry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has confessed that until recently, he thought the 16-year-old fellow tween idol [Justin Bieber] was a female. 'I only heard Justin Bieber for the first time two weeks ago. I genuinely thought it was a woman singing. I'd never heard it before. Is it big in England yet?'
Daniel RadcliffeI don't want to say I'll never play someone with a cockney accent, but I think I would be irritated by me doing it.
Daniel RadcliffeThere are two types of poets: People who write poetically about their lives, and poets that live poetically and write about it.
Daniel RadcliffeI definitely want to go on acting for as long as I can find employment. I'm never happier than when I'm on a film set. I just want to keep working.
Daniel RadcliffeThere were a few years there when I was just so enamored with the idea of living some sort of famous person's lifestyle that really isn't suited to me.
Daniel RadcliffeI still have issues around forgetting that it's my life and if I want to do something, I can do it.
Daniel RadcliffeIt's really good to talk about it [ hydraulic penises and prosthetic butts], and it's very gratifying when people ask us about the other aspects of the film [Swiss Army Man], but [those things] are part of the movie and they're important and hilarious, a very fun part of the movie, so there's no sense from us of not wanting to talk about that. I think it's exciting that those things exist in a film that is also very heartfelt and emotional and profound.
Daniel RadcliffeWell, I think Iโm a feminist, just by the virtue of the fact that I believe in equal rights for everyone.
Daniel RadcliffeMy parents are left-wing, and I would describe myself as that. But also, you know what? I wouldn't describe myself as that. Because I don't have to. Because I'm not a political party. Most people are a little bit of each, and we change our mind on various issues.
Daniel RadcliffeI think it's kind of great, to be honest. I'll never do another film [like Swiss Army Man] where I get to talk about those things, so I might as well enjoy it while I can.
Daniel RadcliffeI've not got a girlfriend at the moment. Somebody said, 'Do you worry girls are just giving you attention because of who you are?' I was like, 'I'm 17, it's wonderful.'
Daniel RadcliffeI think any man who says he has never had an awkward moment with a girl, is a liar or he's delusional because he's sitting there thinking he is doing really well and the girl is thinking "Who is this man and why is he talking to me?"
Daniel RadcliffeI take things in better when I'm allowed to talk, and respond, and engage and move around a bit.
Daniel RadcliffeSome people are asking me questions like this is a more shocking subject, which is so strange.
Daniel RadcliffeTo the children who loved Harry Potter, I want to say your enthusiasm was the real magic. I so enjoyed being on the journey with you. And to the adults who bought the Harry Potter books and devoured them, I just want to say, those books were for children.
Daniel RadcliffePart of an actor's job is to find correlations between your own life and the life of the person you are playing.
Daniel RadcliffeI feel very English in a suit. There's something about being in a suit abroad, particularly in America, that feels empowering.
Daniel RadcliffeMy taste in the films I've taken as an actor is similar to what I'd do a director or writer: all quite odd, challenging stuff, slightly off-the-wall.
Daniel RadcliffePeople who have car collections - I never understood that. I always thought that was unnecessary. It's not beautiful, it's not creative. It's just showing how much money you've got.
Daniel RadcliffeIโm an atheist, and a militant atheist when religion starts impacting on legislation.
Daniel RadcliffeI played bass for a year, but I wasn't getting better at it, so I decided to stop so I could see my friends.
Daniel RadcliffeWe sing a lot of the soundtrack in this film [Swiss Army Man] - me and Paul Dano - and on the last day of filming we had to just get into the back of our sound mixer's van and record a really crappy, rough version of the singing then. For some reason that was one of the most fun days.
