I learn a lot with actors that I don't think are good. Every experience shapes you. I've had experiences with actresses - and I say actresses because there's just a woman thing - that have achieved what she's achieved, by means that I can't understand.

Despite what people think, I was such a rule follower at school. I loved the whole slacker look, like, 'Hey, I don't care, whatever,' but if I didn't turn my homework in, I would panic.

It's hard to actually take details from your personal life and apply them a scene because, as much as you can identify with a feeling, you just get muddled. As soon as you start bringing your own stuff in, it's like, 'No, that's not right.' You're playing a different person. You can relate, but you have to leave that stuff at the door.

Pity is a really odd thing with abused women. You don't want anyone to think that you feel bad - even though you might.

I've done interviews with actors who I've worked with who I really like, and I'm like, "Wow, look at you. You're just going on . . . You don't even know what you're saying!"

I have a great family by the way, but you need to find people who can pull something out from you that might be otherwise unseen.
