What if we truly believed that there is a beneficent order to things, a force that's holding things together without our conscious control? What if we could see, in our daily lives, the working of that force? What if we believed it loved us somehow and cared for us, and protected us? What if we believed we could afford to relax?
Marianne WilliamsonI sometimes say to people who have life-challenging illnesses: "Right now you are tempted to think that if you were physically well you would be happy. But if that were true, everybody who is physically well would be happy."
Marianne WilliamsonNo matter what is happening in our lives, we choose how we wish to think about it. And the greatest gift we give ourselves is often our willingness to change our minds. Despite what might seem to be the saddest and most intractable situation, we have the power to believe that something else is possible, that things can change, that a miracle can happen.
Marianne WilliamsonI canโt say that there are โthingsโ that make me come alive. There are thoughts that make me come alive. Those are thoughts that take me beyond myself; that remind me that thereโs a bigger game going on on this planet than simply my own existence; that love works miracles, and how much we need them now.
