You could probably go all the way back to the first books. I bet people said 'why should you read when you could talk to other people?' The point of reading is that you get to deeply immerse yourself in a person's perspective. Right? Same thing with newspapers or phones or TVs. Soon it will be VR, I bet.

You grow more when you get more people's perspective.

A squirrel dying in front of your house may be more relevant to your interests right now than people dying in Africa.

Move fast and break things. Unless you are breaking stuff, you are not moving fast enough.

Advertising works most effectively when it's in line with what people are already trying to do.

If things aren’t breaking, then you’re not moving fast enough. People learn by making mistakes.

In terms of doing work and in terms of learning and evolving as a person, you just grow more when you get more people's perspectives... I really try and live the mission of the company and... keep everything else in my life extremely simple.
