I live in the same house Iโve lived in for 25 years. I havenโt gone off and bought mansions, you know, even though my subject is livingโฆ living in a mansion wouldnโt do for my readers. I have to keep my credibility alive with my readers, so weโre in the same place. I just make that place nicer and nicer. Andโฆ and thatโs a secret. And people donโt know that. People think, oh, she lives in this fabulous place, itโs the same old place. It started out like a farm, it got to be a farmette, then it got to be an estatelet. I built a wall, it helped a lot. But itโs the same place, the same grounded nature.
Martha StewartYou have to be open to change. I never stop making sure that what I say is the best of what could be said about a particular thing. It's a constant evolution. If I planted a tree one way yesterday and somebody tells me of a better way to plant a tree, I think, You know, they're right, that's better. Then I change my way to accommodate the new way of planting trees.
Martha StewartI support Alice Waters in her desire that there be a vegetable garden at the White House. I don't think they should rip up the Rose Garden, because that's something that I love. They should probably dig up another patch and grow some vegetables there.
