Miracles happen. But prayer is needed! Prayer that is courageous, struggling and persevering, not prayer that is a mere formality.

The Church, in her wisdom, maintains the distinction between engaged and married couples -- they are not the same, today's culture and society have become rather indifferent to the delicate and serious nature of this passage.

In these times of suffering prayer is of even more help.

Do not be afraid to go and to bring Christ into every area of life, to the fringes of society, even to those who seem farthest away, most indifferent.

Be the first to seek to bring good, do not grow accustomed to evil, but defeat it.

Let us pray for the many Christians in the world who still suffer persecution and violence. May God grant them the courage of fidelity.
