My first words, as I was being born [...] I looked up at my mother and said, 'that's the last time I'm going up one of those.
Stephen FryI suppose the thing I most would have liked to have known or been reassured about is that in the world, what counts more than talent, what counts more than energy or concentration or commitment, or anything else - is kindness. And the more in the world that you encounter kindness and cheerfulness - which is its kind of amiable uncle or aunt - the better the world always is. And all the big words: virtue, justice, truth - are dwarfed by the greatness of kindness.
Stephen FryFirst love is unrequited ultimately because itโs so huge.Itโs such an act of giving and it requires so much back that it can never be given back. Itโs like an atom bomb. Itโs likeโฆ Itโs all the energy of who you are and who you want to be and what you love and what you hope to be explodes. It is impossible for a single... human being to offer that back to you in a mutual way.
Stephen FryI think my view is that whenever you project into the future you're never likely to be accurate in the details, or the paraphernalia and style. It's in the spirit of it.
