It is our enemies who provide us with the challenge we need to develop the qualities of tolerance, patience and compassion.

pain is inevitable,suffering is optional... we have bigger houses,but smaller families. More conveniences,but less time. We have knowledge,but less judgements; more experts,but more problems ; more medicines but less health.

When we face problems or disagreements today, we have to arrive at solutions through dialogue. Dialogue is the only appropriate method. One-sided victory is no longer acceptable. We must work to resolve conflicts in a spirit of reconciliation and always keep in mind the interests of others.

I am increasingly convinced that the time has come to find a way of thinking about spirituality and ethics beyond religion altogether.

Follow the three R's: - Respect for self. - Respect for others. - Responsibility for all your actions.

If we lose our hope, that's our real disaster!

The first beneficiary of compassion is always oneself. When compassion, or warmheartedness, arises in us and our focus shifts away from our own narrow self-interest, it is as if we open an inner door. It reduces fear, boosts confidence and brings us inner strength. By reducing distrust, it opens us to others and brings us a sense of connection to others, and sense of purpose and meaning in life.
