Up to now my involvement in the Tibetan freedom struggle has been part of my spiritual practice, because the issues of the survival of the Buddha Teaching and the freedom of Tibet are very much related. In this particular struggle, there is no problem with many monks and nuns, including myself, joining.

Happiness that depends mainly on physical pleasure is unstable; one day it's there, the next day it may not be.

Consider that not only do negative thoughts and emotions destroy our experience of peace, they also undermine our health.

The main cause of suffering is egoistic desire for one's own comfort and happiness.

Our visit to this planet is short, so we should use our time meaningfully, which we can do by helping others wherever possible. And if we cannot help others, at least we should try not to create pain and suffering for them.

In our concern for others, we worry less about ourselves.
